The Hardest Lesson of Leadership

One of the toughest lessons of leadership to accomplish is to teach your people to lead without you.

And this is what I have been hoping to do. No, I’m not retiring, but I am giving up the computer and all internet for lent, (besides schoolwork) meaning I will not be active, or online at all until Easter. Don’t panic, because I’m not worried. Did you see the results of the recruiting sessions? I was the only one leading those. And yet, judging by the pictures I got, they were a huge success. You need to do the same. You. If I can do it, you totally can too. I believe in you; if I didnt, I wouldn’t be giving up what I am for lent. I’m not worried about this, because I know you guys can do it. Now this is going to a be a huge stretch for you guys, but I want you EACH to recruit and parade around cp with a group of penguins you have assembled for atleast 15-20 minutes, every other day. Weekends should be primetime to do this.

Tips for doing this successfully

  • Start off in the town, (go on any server with 5 bars) and yell recruiting phrases until a couple of penguins turn black and join you.
  • Advise them on how to get to the website, with things like “Look this up!” “Black bandits army of club penguin!” “Comment on the sight to join!” Site, search, and website DO NOT show up on cp. They’re stupid limits, but we can easily work around them.
  • Once you have a good group of penguins, do something fun like robbing the pizza parlor. That almost always gets great results, and its a great way to get more people to join
  • Afterwards, convince all the penguins that stuck with you to actually find the “sight” and leave a comment on the join post. I’m not sure if page shows up on cp, so just to be sure, use post instead.

Speaking of posting, we need to be posting atleast 3 times a week! If we want to stay active, we need to have an active website. That falls on Chrisi, Soap and I. Meaning, schedule events, find armies to have a pb against, (Maybe even a war if you feel we have enough people. But make sure to target armies the same size as us. Don’t lose your mind and go after ACP) schedule recruiting sessions, and schedule some fun stuff as well, like streaking raids and other fun activities. For an army to survive, there needs to be a balance between work and fun. Do everything you can to maintain this balance; people will be more active if they know their work will be rewarded by fun.

Overall, I’m not worried about the next 40 days. But if I come back and see maybe a grand total of 5 posts made since I left, I will NOT be happy. For the sake of your safety, do NOT let that happen. You guys can do it. I believe in you, and I know Chrisi feels the same. Unfortunatly, I was unable to find a temporary replacement for the time I will be gone, but if Chrisi appoints someone, be sure to listen to them. Treat them as you would a leader, because for that time, they ARE the leader. You can do it. Don’t let me down.
